https://shantysanctuary2021.blogspot.com/: White Bear Lake, MN, United States; I began sailing my first sailboat in 1980. Later I obtained my USCG captain's license. I’ve owned four sailboats: Three monohulls 19’, 23’, and 34’ respectively, sailing primarily Lake Superior and other Great Lakes. The fourth sailboat was a 32’ catamaran (Dash) purchased at Newport, RI in 2007. I sailed her back through Long Island Sound, up the Hudson R., across the Erie Canal, and L. Ontario, through the Trent-Severn Waterway, across Georgian Bay, L. Huron, and L. Superior. I sailed Dash out of her new home port of Grand Marais, MN until she was sold in 2013. Then in 2014 I assisted with delivery of Dash through the Great Lakes and down the east coast to the south end of Chesapeake Bay. In 2016, I enjoyed a Shanty Boat (home built boat) experience in central Florida. Then in 2017 I took a houseboat trip in Voyageurs National Park on Rainy Lake, MN. In 2018 I rented a houseboat in the Temagami Lake region of NE Ontario, Canada near the Quebec border and returned in 2019. Covid ruled out Canada in 2020, so I purchased "Shanty Sanctuary" in the fall. After extensive mods I made 3 test trips in 2021.
