0630-Got up. Couldn't sleep any longer!
0900-Went up to wash clothes but someone already had the washers tied up. So got some ice, returned to the boat to defrost and clean the fridge. Packed everything in a cooler to defrost.
Vacuumed the boat. Topped off fresh water jugs I use for coffee. Will top the main water tank before departure.
1030-Got the first of three washes going and returned to the boat to start the installation of the new shower sump pump that was delivered to the marina on Thursday.
1115-Transferred wash to dryer and returned to boat to finish work on pump. Finished the install, tested, works fine!
1230-Folded first two loads of clothes and put third load in washer. Returned to boat, will wait for third load to finish before making lunch.
1310-Started up fridge after thorough cleaning. Will let it cool down before reloading.
1430-Shop called, parts came in, and they finished work on the motor. They will bring it down to the boat about 1530. So I will finish up things here and be out of here at sunrise tomorrow. Lost only one day, not too bad!
Factoid: I call them "Lay Days" or "Rest Days" but they are far from it, below is a list of tasks or projects that had to be done on the recent "Lay Days" in the Soo:
1. Pump out holding tank
2. Refill gas cans and main boat tanks.
3. Refill generator spare gas tank
4. Refill diesel furnace spare tank
5. Pick up mail order parts for the boat
6. Call and schedule outboard repair
7. Assist loading outboard on truck
8. Top off main fresh water tank
9. Vacuum boat
10. Wash 3 loads, fold, & stow.
11. Update blogs, upload videos
12. Defrost and clean fridge
13. Install shower sump pump
14. Change bedding and towels.
So it is not like you lay around on "Lay day" just relaxing listening to music and sipping a cold glass of white wine! And, there is no more than the usual rest at night.
Factoid: I left home on June 28th and my first shore side shower was July 10th. I have not had to purchase any additional food or drink and this is the first clothes washing accomplished in over two weeks. It is the 12th day of the sail trip, but I was in GM for three days before departure so it is really 15 days since I left home.
1530-Mechanic/owner brought the motor down and tweaked the linkage adjustment on the starboard engine. Very expensive fix for the outboard, but necessary. Now I am good to go!
Will go shower soon and go out for dinner tonight to celebrate completion of all the work!
