Ontonagon, MI to Grand Marais, MN (66 nm)

The crossing was calm all the way.  Worked on a few on board projects while underway, had some good meals, and watched the autopilot do the work.  Took 12 hours to cross.  Started at 0600 EDT arrived 1700 CDT.

Flies were a problem the last 15-20 NM.  The little buggers managed to find there way into the cabin in spite of doors being closed and screens in!

My computer BT GPS connection broke down about 20 miles out for the laptop backup.  In the process of messing with that I thought I inadvertently shut down the satellite tracking but once in the harbor I see all was okay.  I think the BT drivers do not work consistently with my 64 bit Win 7 Dell laptop, will try to download new ones here.  The Internet is much better here since Sprint has higher rate access to the Verizon towers.

Five ships showed up on the AIS for the crossing, but none closer than 7 NM this time around.  All 1000 foot cargo vessels in the shipping lanes.

Saw several big logs, note picture.  Heavy rains on North Shore washed some big ones out into the lake.  Would not want to run into one of these in the dark of night!

Will be working in Grand Marais until mid-June trying to catch up with work not finished before launch.  Lots to do!
